Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) is situated at Udaipur in Rajasthan state in India.. Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology by tate Government created Agricultural University at Udaipur in 1999 after the great freedom fighter and patriot Maharana Pratap. The University jurisdiction covers 11 districts of south and south-east Rajasthan which have predominantly sub-humid climate with cropping pattern quite different from the rest of the State. Since then it has been the principal academic institution supporting mainly south and south-eastern parts of Rajasthan, taking the national responsibility of identifying, designing, preparing and adapting new techniques in the field of production technology for Agricultural development.

MPUAT Service Area (MPUATSA) consists of 11 districts lying in the south and south-eastern part of Rajasthan. These districts are: Sirohi, Udaipur, Banswara, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar. MPUAT accounts for 22.9% geographical area of the state. There is a sizeable area of 10.58 lac hectare under barren and uncultivable land. About 5.61 lac hectare area is under pasture and grazing land. The size of culturable wasteland is 7.29 lac hectares.
