getimage.dll Bangalore: Over 200 students of Morarji Desai Residential School in Chamarajpet fell ill on Thursday morning after they had breakfast in the school hostel. They were diagnosed for food poisoning.
Some students vomited, while others began feeling giddy and complained of stomach ache. They were rushed to nearby Vani Vilas Hospital, and were discharged by afternoon. The students had their idlis around 8.30 am, and began feeling sick soon after.
Panic-striken teachers took all the students to hospital. While 160 students were treated as out-patients and sent back, the other 50 students, who complained of stomach ache and vomiting, were admitted for observation.
By 11 am, doctors treating them said they were out of danger. By noon, all the children, barring seven, were discharged.

WARDEN SHOCKED
Savitha, the hostel warden, was shocked: “On Wednesday evening, the cooks told me that sooji was over and I suggested to them them to prepare idli with rice and urad dal,” she said. Bad beginning to a GOOD MORNING
Idlis Sent For Testing After Kids Fall Ill. Food Quality Was Good, Claims School

It was a nasty surprise for the Morarji Desai Residential School authorities on Thursday morning. Children were writhing in pain and vomiting, and the hostel authorities were nonplussed. No one was sure as to what had happened after breakfast.
The police, who had to be called in, seized the idlis. Officials said they the idlis would be sent to a laboratory for testing.
“All the ration is supplied by the government and we do not procure anything. It was the same rice we had used on Tuesday night, and even I have the food that is cooked for the children. I don’t understand what went wrong,’’ hostel warden Savitha said.
Around 7.30 am on Thursday, Savitha gave the cooks coconut and other ingredients for chutney, before heading for her bath. When she went to the dining hall to have breakfast, the students were complaining of stomach ache.
