d) What were the feelings of the Prisoner during the first and second year of his solitary confinement ?
e) Describe the disappointment of the artist and his wife as the visitors leave without buying a picture.
f) Does Alice enjoy the tea-party ? Give reasons for your answer.

a) Explain the prophetic vision of Yeats in the poem “The Second Coming”.

IV Answer any one of the following in about 200 words. 1 x 10 = 10 Marks

a) Write an essay on Wole Soyinka’s “Telephone Conversation” commenting on the satire in the poem.

b) Analyse “Night of the Scorpion” as an exploration of Indian sensibility.
