Kolkata : City intellectuals carried out a rally for the PTTI trainees demanding that they should be given an advantage in the recruitment process. Moloy Sengupta, Bibhas Chakraborty, Tarun Sanyal, Dilip Chakraborty were present in the gathering with the PTTI students.

"The situation will get more critical once the recruitment starts. There will be clashes between the ordinary students and the PTTI trainees," said Tarun Naskar, a professor of Jadavpur University.

"We are pressing for the withdrawal of the recruitment notification and the recruitment of all 34,000 PTTI students as primary teachers," said Ananda Handa, a student leader.
