Panchkula (Haryana): Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal Tuesday assured the Haryana government that all possible financial help would be provided to set up proper toilets in the schools of the state.
Sibal made this announcement after paying a quick visit to the government middle school in Mankya and the senior secondary school in Ramgarh in Panchkula district, where he interacted with the students of various classes and also visited the school toilets, especially those for the girls.

He asked the school authorities to maintain proper cleanliness in the toilets.

“The HRD ministry will provide all the requisite funds for constructing hygienic and modern toilets for both males and females in the school premises,” said Sibal told reporters after visiting the schools.

“The aim of my visit in these schools was to make myself aware about the difficulties faced by the teachers and the students. Our aim is to provide education to children as their fundamental right in the best possible environment,” he said.

The minister said India has 530 million people below 25 years of age whereas the total population of European countries is 480 million, and he had urged the state governments to use this generation as their assets and to provide them quality education.

Beside this, the HRD minister also initiated a new scheme Tuesday, under which a regular grant of Rs.50,000 will be given to schools, which included a sum of Rs.10,000 for the purchase of books.
