Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Ettimadai Campus is situated at Ettimadai in Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. Amrita University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research and teaching university located in India. The University head quarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, is one of the youngest group of educational institutions in India to have been granted the university status under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India has awarded the elite Category A status to the university for its Academic Excellence. The university also received an A grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council as per the new grading system for the next five years.
The two campuses, Amritapuri and Ettimadai had humble beginnings. Both the campuses started as computer training centres and slowly evolved into colleges, christened as Amrita Institute of Technology(AITEC) , where the AITEC,Amritapuri was affiliated to the University of Kerala and AITEC, Ettimadai was affiliated to the Bharathiyar University. The University Headquarters are at Ettimadai in a picturesque campus near the foothills of the Western Ghats, about twenty km from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Extensive interaction between all campuses is made possible through the Amrita-ISRO satellite network for e-learning.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has five campuses, with the headquarters in Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Its five campuses are in the three states of South India, in Kerala at Amritapuri and Kochi, in Karnataka at Bangalore and Mysore, and in Tamil Nadu at Ettimadai. The university is also planning to open up new campuses in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Hyderabad & Vishakapatnam(Vizag) Andhra Pradesh and one in New Delhi.

Admission:
Amrita conducts entrance exams for admission to many of its bachelors and masters level programs. Nation-wide exams are conducted for B Tech, MBBS, BDS, BAMS and MCA. For many other programs, entrance exams are conducted at the schools' premises. A competitive entrance examination the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination(AEEE) is conducted to find the best of talents in and outside India.

1. Amrita Schools of Engineering:
The Amrita School of Engineering at Ettimadai predates Amrita University. In 1994, when it was established, it became the first Amrita institution for higher education. In 2008, the School celebrated its 13th Institution Day. In a survey of nearly 1500 AICTE-approved engineering colleges in India, Outlook (magazine) ranked the Amrita School of Engineering as 21st among private engineering colleges. Considering placements alone, the School received the 11th rank.
The three Schools of Engineering offer B.Tech degree degree programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering. In addition, M.Tech and PhD degree programs are also offered.
2. Amrita School of Business:
The school offers a fully residential two-year MBA degree program. Equipped with infrastructure that rates as one among the best among Business Schools in India, the school attracts students from all over the country and also from abroad. In addition, it offers a dual degree program leading to an MS in Information Technology and MBA in collaboration with State University of New York at Buffalo, for working professionals at the Bangalore campus. Faculty members have degrees from IITs, IIMs and reputed foreign universities such as University of California, Berkeley, Cornell University, NYU Stern School of Business, University of Texas at Austin, and Kellogg School of Management. Outlook (magazine) ranks this school as 27th among Business Schools in the nation.
3. Other programs:
Programs Directly Offered by the University but not recognised by any universities in kerala Degree programs in social work (MSW), and are directly offered by the University.
