IGNOU Announces Admission to M.Ed.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites applications for admission to Master of Education (M.Ed.) Programme for the academic session commencing January, 2010.

The M.Ed. Programme launched by IGNOU through distance mode,  is an innovative professional development programme.  It has been designed and developed jointly by Distance Education Council (DEC), IGNOU and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two bodies.

The main purpose of the programme is to prepare educational experts capable of generating knowledge by the application of scientific methods of inquiry. These experts will be enabled to prepare teachers for diverse situations. The M. Ed. programme will also provide an  understanding of the process of education by cutting across a number of professional areas concerning special/inclusive education, ICT enabled education, human rights, responsibilities and values, environmental concerns and gender issues.

The eligibility for admission to the programme is B.Ed. or B.El.Ed. degree with atleast 55% marks or equivalent grade on a five point scale from a recognized Indian or Foreign University.

The Student Handbook and Prospectus for M.Ed. programme can be obtained from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU or from the Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Student Registration Division, IGNOU , Maidan Garhi on  payment of Rs. 200 or through post by sending an IPO/ Demand Draft of Rs. 250, drawn in favour of IGNOU, payable at the city from where the prospectus is required. Students are required to write their names and addresses on the backside of the IPO/DD. An electronic version of the prospectus is also available at the IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in. Application forms can be downloaded from the website and submitted along with IPO/DD of Rs. 200.

Sale of Prospectus will commence from 30th Oct, 09 at all  Regional Centres. Last Date for receiving the requisition for supply of Student Handbook and Prospectus by post is 10th Nov, 09 and for submission of filled-in forms at the concerned Regional Centre is 15th Nov,09. Application forms should be submitted to the Regional Director in whose jurisdiction the Programme centre falls.
