MS-3 : ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT

Time : 3 hours            Maximum Marks : 100 (Weight age 70%)

Note : (i) There are two Sections, A and B.

(ii) Attempt any three question from section A, each question carrying 20 marks.

(iii) Section B is compulsory and carries 40 marks

SECTION A

Q1. Discuss the salient features of the New Economic Policy and the initiatives taken by the government for economic restnrcturing.      20

Q2. Describe the institutional framework for Small Scale Industry (SSI) which emerged over the period.               20

Q3. (a) Discuss the salient features of the Gandhian Model of Development and its relevance in the current context.         10

(b) "The overall performance of public sector enterprises (PSEs) has been poor."

Do you agree with the above statement ? why ? Why not ? Give reasons.     10

Q4. Describe the various kinds of external debt. Critically evaluate the growing debt servicing burden of India and the challenges associated with increasing debt burden.                  20

Q5. Critically examine the recommendations of the Narasimhan Committee.                       20
