National Law University, Jodhpur is an autonomous law university in India committed to the cause of providing quality legal education. The Institute offers under-graduate and post-graduate courses in various streams of law. The National Law University, Jodhpur is an institution of national prominence established under the National Law University, Jodhpur, Act, 1999 (Act No. 22 of 1999) enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature. The University is established for the advancement of learning, teaching, research and diffusion of knowledge in the field of law. It caters to the needs of the society by developing professional skills of persons intending to make a career in advocacy, judicial service, law officer / managers and legislative drafting as their profession.

NLU proudly acclaims the largest campus spanning in 50 Acers of land at Nagour Bikaner National Highway, just 11 kms from Railway Station and 13 Kms from Airport. NLU has Completely air-conditioned classrooms.  LCD Projector is installed in each classroom. Academic block has a well-equipped computer Lab with latest configuration. It has 4 Mbps Internet facilities. The Library of National Law University Jodhpur has a collection of more than 10,000 books. NLU also provide fully furnished staff quarters to the faculty members.

NLU are the only Law University in the country, which has well equipped Science laboratories. We have Physics, Chemistry and Life Science Laboratories to provide first hand experience of science and technology to the students to cater to the demand of globalised knowledge society on integration of law and technology to address legal issues pertaining to rapidly growing technological development.

Courses offered:

Under-graduate Program:

It is one of the first institutions in India to offer degrees at the under-graduate level are;

  • B.B.A,LL.B. (Hons)
  • B.A.,LL.B. (Hons)
  • B.Sc.,LL.B. (Hons)

The courses are structured in an ingenious manner which helps the students to undertake Honours courses like Business Laws, Intellectual Property Rights, Trade Related Laws & WTO, Criminal Law, Constitutional Governance, and Human Rights Studies. The unique multidisciplinary approach in imparting legal education is in alignment with the fast changing horizons of the legal profession. The Honours courses are structured with great care to make them not only knowledge oriented but also competitive and market centric.

All of these are ten semester courses and open only for students on fully-residential basis. Since 2008, the admission to these courses is through the nation-wide Common Law Admission Test, the first of which took place on May 11, 2008.

Post-graduate Program:

At the post-graduate level the degrees offered are (subject-wise):

  • Constitutional Governance (MA/M.Sc in Constitutional Governance, Four Semesters)
  • Intellectual Property Law (LL.M-IPR/MIPR, Four Semesters)
  • Management and Law (MBA,LL.M/MBL, Six Semesters)
  • Insurance (MBA in Insurance, Five Semesters)
  • International Trade and WTO (LL.M.(International Trade), Four Semester)
  • Banking and Finance (MBF, Four Semesters)

The University provides an opportunity to explore the undiscovered nuances of the legal profession and is engaged in setting new standards in legal education. With the growing needs of the legal profession in the global context, the University has established five schools of learning, namely, School of Law, School of Management Studies, School of Policy Science, School of Science, and School of Constitutional Governance.

Ph.D. Program:

The University offers registration for advanced research and Ph.D. Program. Interested candidates may apply to the University in the prescribed form.The candidates shall attach a detailed research plan and design along with the application form. After the Research Board finds the scholar suitable for research in the University, the candidates may be required to defend their research design before the Board.

Admission:

Admission to Undergraduate Programme :

Admission to all undergraduate courses is through common law admission test (CLAT) on the merit basis. All the undergraduate programmes are full time and residential. For details visit : www.clat.ac.in .

Admission to Postgraduate Programme:

Students seeking admission in the Post Graduate programme should have secured 50% marks in aggregate in any discipline at graduate level. For LL.M. programme the candidate must be a law graduate. Admission is through all India entrance test subject to the university regulations.

Ph.D. :

The National Law University has Ph.D. Programs in Law, Policy Science, Science and Management.

Distance Education:

The distance program of the University is designed to provide an excellent opportunity to those who want to update their knowledge and skills through the process of continuous learning. Keeping in mind the growing importance of widening horizons, in order to provide an opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice, 4 Semester oriented Two Year Master Degree Programs are being introduced from the forthcoming academic year. These focused Programs aim at providing an ad-value to a knowledge pursuer as well as new linkages for one who looks forward for an aspiring career development.

The Board will have the overall responsibility and will take the policy decisions regarding the Distance Education Programmes. The Board will appoint a Director for an individual programme/course. The Director will be assisted by Coordinators. The Coordinators will be appointed by the Board on the recommendation of the Director of the programme/course.
