NEW DELHI: Mustakeem Ahmad, a class II student of a school in Bijwasan run by the MCD, was locked up accidentally in his classroom on Wednesday for a night by his teacher and attendant.

Following this incident, the civic agency has suspended the principal, teacher and the security guard of the school and an enquiry is being initiated in the matter.

"Till now, no case was registered as the parents refused to give a police complaint. The school child was found by his parents on Thursday morning around 7.30am when the school re-opened in the morning. There has definitely been a lapse on the schools part and we are investigating the matter further. The principal, teacher and the security guard have been suspended with immediate effect,'' said Deep Mathur, director press and information, MCD.

There have been cases of rape and corporal punishment reported from MCD schools before but little has been done to improve the state of affairs in these schools. There are 1,800 MCD primary schools where around 9 lakh children study.
