DTU, Mahindra to jointly organize Auto Quiz

New Delhi: Automobile giant Mahindra & Mahindra together with Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering, will be organizing an auto quiz 'Auto Quotient' (AQ) here on September 18, 2009 to create an understanding and knowledge about today's and tomorrow's automobiles and also to providing a platform for promoting and engaging youngsters with a passion for all things auto, under its Mahindra AQ initiative.

The idea of the quiz is to allow the young engineering students a chance to interact with experts in the auto field and to create the thrill and excitement about the challenging, exciting and exhilarating world of automobiles.
"Youngsters in turn shall be able to demonstrate their automotive knowledge and share their passion will fellow auto enthusiasts. Today, the team Mahindra organized a competition for driving a remote controlled car on auto track in the DTU campus to register the budding engineers of the University for participation in the Mahindra AQ Quiz", a DTU official told NNE.

Expressing his happiness about joining Team Mahindra in organizing the AQ Quiz, Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU said, "In addition to creating the excitement and understanding of the technological trends in automobile sector, it is also important to create a responsible mobile community so that we are able to bring in a greater traffic discipline, motivate both the automotive industry and the users to move towards green automotive solutions and support the growth of mobility engineering without sacrificing the interest of man and nature. It is hoped that the quiz will enthuse the young students mind about tomorrow's eco-friendly automobiles."

DTU has been identified by Mahindra & Mahindra for showcasing the event primarily because a number of automobile innovations such as Hybrid Car, Super-mileage Vehicle, All-Terrain Vehicle and Formula Students Car, have been designed and developed by the DTU (erstwhile DCE), which have won high national and international acclaim in SAE International Competitions. The Mahindra AQ Quiz is being organized in collaboration with NDTV Profit.

DTU is focused on fuel-efficiency and eco-friendly automobile design and development. "The thrust of automotive research in DTU is on fuel-efficiency, eco-friendly fuels and on zero-emission automobiles," informed Prof. S. Maji, Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering and DTU coordinator for the quiz.
