New Delhi: Students appearing for the Combined Aptitude Test for English (CATE) on June 9 can now download their admit cards from the university’s website — www.du.ac.in. This year, the English department received 9,250 applications for the entrance test conducted for admission to the BA (honours) course in 17 colleges. DU has also uploaded the list of colleges on its website from where admit cards can be collected in person.

“Students can simply get printouts of their e-admit cards from the link provided on the website and carry it to the test venues. If they plan to collect a hard copy of their admit card from the colleges, they should carry their acknowledgement slip along,’’ said professor Sumanyu Satpathy, head, department of English. The test venue for each candidate will be mentioned on the admit card.

Of the total applications received, 291 were rejected because they either did not match eligibility criteria or the forms were duplicates. ‘‘Many applicants had not calculated their best-of-four marks correctly because of which they were disqualified,’’ Satpathy said. He added, ‘‘In other cases, some students had submitted two forms. So, the second form has been rejected but not the candidate.’’

The entrance test, to be held across 23 centres, will have objective as well as long answer-type questions. According to Satpathy, the question paper will be designed to check the literary aptitude of students sitting for the test. Evaluations will be done over two rounds. Only those students who score above a certain cut-off on the objective questions will be evaluated further, while the rest will be eliminated.
