Scholarships for 2009-10 are open

Higher Education in India is passing through a period of profound transformation, in terms of the place of the university in the life of the community vis-à-vis the government or in terms of networking between the university and its constituents. While higher education has taken considerable strides in the country, each of its main objectives remains to be accomplished.

Only a fraction of socially and economically disadvantaged sections (excluding females) have access to higher education in India. This group comprises mainly of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) & Other Backward Classes (OBC) apart from neglected women, physically disabled and economically weaker sections, which suffer from extreme poverty

Scholarship Details: FAEA reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of scholarships. Students in the General cateogary should have secured atleast 75% marks in higher secondary examination. Students who have secured admission in the institutes of national importance like IIT’s,/ Medical School/National Law School or other institutions accredited by NAAC as A+ will be given preference. Decision of FAEA will be final.

Purpose of Scholarship: FAEA is offering 50 scholarships* for SC/ST and 20 for General category students for the year 2009-10 to pursue undergraduate studies in arts/ commerce/ science/ medical/ engineering and other technical and professional discipline at any university/ institution/ college of students' choice anywhere in India.

Eligibility criteria: (i) Indian Nationals

(ii) Students who have passed Class XII from a recognised board in India. Those in the 1st year of the undergraduate course (any discipline) are also eligible to apply.

(iii) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe.

Scope of Scholarship: FAEA, on selection of student for the FAEA scholarship, provides financial aid to the student for completion of undergraduate courses which includes tuition fee, maintenance allowance or hostel/mess charges and other allowances to cover travel, clothing and books. The continuance of scholarship every year will, however, be subject to good academic performance.
