Pattern of the MCA UPTU Entrance Examination

Eligibility:

  1. For Admission to the State Engineering Colleges and M.N.R. Engineering College, Allahabad : A candidate who has passed a three year Bachelor's degree course with Mathematics and/or Statistics and subject(s) in eligible.
  2. For all other institutions including University Departments : A candidate with graduation in any discipline with Mathematics

as one of the subject as (10 + 2) level is eligible..

Nature of written test

The question paper will only have multiple choice objective type questions. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. Multiple response to one question will be considered as a wrong answer.

Sub-Test I : Quantitative and mathematical ability test

Modem Algebra: Indempotent low, identities, Complementary Laws, Demorgan's Theorm, Mapping, Inverse relation, Equivatence relation Paino's Axiom Definition of rational and integers through equivalence relation.

Algebra: Surds , Solution of simultaneous and quadratic equations, Arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progression, Binomial theorem for any index, Logarithms, Exponential and Logarithms series, Determinants.

Probability: Definition, Dependent and independent events, Numerical problems on addition and multiplication theorems of probability.

Trigonometry: Simple identities, Trigonometric equations, Properties of triangles. Use of Mathematical tables, Solution of Triangles, Heights and Distance, Inverse Functions, Demoiver's theorem.

Co-ordinate Geometry: Co-ordinate Geometry of the straight lines, Pair of Straight Lines, Circle, Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola and their properties.

Calculus: Differentiation of function of functions, Tangents and normal, simple examples of maxima and minima, Limit of function, integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integral, application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of sphere, cone and cylinder.

Vectors: Position Vector, Addition and Subtraction of Vectors, Scalar and Vector Products and their applications.

Dynamics: Velocity, Composition of velocity, Relative velocity, acceleration, composition of acceleration, Motion under gravity, projectiles, Laws of motion, principles of conservation of momentum and energy, Direct impact of smooth bodies, pulleys.

Statics: Composition of co-planar, Concurrent and parallel forces, Moment and couples, Resultant of set of co-planar forces and conditions, of equilibrium, Determination of centroides in simple case problems involving fraction.

Sub Test ll : Logical ability test

Simple question to test analytical and Reasonable thinking of the candidates.
