JN Tata Endowment Scholarships (JNTE) 2010-2011.

The Scholarship Program

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the J. N. TATA ENDOWMENT LOAN SCHOLARSHIPS for the academic year 2010-2011 for higher studies abroad in all disciplines and subjects. Selected scholars may also qualify for gift awards.

A unique feature of the JN Tata Endowment's scholarship program is its inherent flexibility and openness. The scholarship is open to:

i. All Indian nationals irrespective of caste, creed, community, socio-economic background, gender and geographical location.

ii. All age groups, without any upper age limit, and thereby covering the entire spectrum of scholars from fresh graduates to mid-career professionals and academics with several years of work experience.

iii. Scholars pursuing higher education in all areas and fields of study, with newly emerging fields of relevance to the country being encouraged.

iv. Scholars pursuing higher studies irrespective of course duration, the selected course being either a short term training program, or a full-fledged Master's or Doctoral program.

Who is Eligible?

i. Only Indian nationals are eligible for the scholarship.

ii. Graduates of a recognized Indian University, with a consistently good academic record.

iii. Students in the final year of the degree course and those awaiting final year results.

iv. Academicians and other mid-career professionals upto the age of 45 years, with experience in their field who wish to go abroad for further specialization.

How to Apply?

i. Prescribed application forms will be available from the Administrative Office of the Endowment at Mulla House, 51 M.G. Road, Fort, Mumbai 400 001 from December 7, 2009 to February 15,2010.

ii. The prescribed application form can be obtained either personally from the Endowment's Administrative Office on payment of an application fee of Rs 100 by cash, or by sending a request by a 'money order' for the amount giving the applicant's full name and address in the "Space for Communication" provided on both sides of the money order form.

iii. Completed application forms should reach the office of the Endowment not later than March 1,2010.

v. Short listed candidates are required to come for a personal interview conducted by subject experts in Mumbai during March – June. The personal interview is mandatory.

The Selection Process: After the initial screening of applications, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in person by subject experts. The final selection will be made on the basis of the interview which will be held in Mumbai between March and June 2010.
