Admission Notification: 2011 – 12

The National Law University, Orissa, at Cuttack, is a premier Law University established by the Act IV of 2008 and is a member of the existing group of National Law Universities of India. It is situated in one of the oldest cities of India, Cuttack that retains an old world charm as well as exudes a modern flavour being the twin city of Bhubaneswar. NLUO can be reached in approximately 45 minutes from the Biju Patnaik International Airport at Bhubaneswar. In its second year the University already has students from 25 states justifying its national character.
The University invites applications for five years integrated B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A.LL.B (Hons.) Degree Programmes & Conjoint LL..M – Ph.D Program for the academic year 2011- 2012, commencing on 11th July, 2011.

B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A.LL.B (Hons.) Undergraduate Degree Programmes:

ELIGIBILITY : Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 system) or equivalent
examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. (SC / ST candidates can apply with 45%
marks). Those who have appeared for the qualifying examination in March / April, 2011 may
also apply).
AGE LIMIT : Below 21 years as on 1st August, 2011 (23 years in case of SC/ST candidates)
TOTAL SEATS : 60 seats each for B.A.LL.B. (Hons) & B.B.A. LL.B (Hons.)
CATEGORY : General 78, Scheduled Tribes-14, Scheduled Castes-10, Persons with
disabilities-4, Foreign Nationals-4, NRI/NRI Sponsored-10. Total Seats : 120

Conjoint LL.M – Ph.D Degree Program:

ELIGIBILITY : Candidate should have passed B.A.LL.B. /LL.B. /B.L. degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University and must have secured at least 60% of marks in the aggregate of the maximum marks prescribed. Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also appear for the test on the condition that they will have to produce at the time of admission proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed marks.
TOTAL SEATS : 5 seats

ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Candidates for LL.M.-Ph.D. course shall be selected by the Admission Committee, based on a combined assessment of:
a) The performance at the admission test conducted by the National Law University, Orissa; on  22nd May, 2011 at multiple test centres across India and
b) Performance at the interview to determine the aptitude for higher studies and research in Law.

Date of Completion of Admission Formalities: 10th August, 2011 (Wednesday)
Commencement of classes: 16th August, 2011 (Tuesday)

Date of Entrance Test: National Law University, Orissa will independently conduct its own test on 22nd May, 2011 across multiple test centres in India.
Duration of the Entrance Test: The time duration of the Entrance Test will be of two and half hour that is from 03.00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
