Applications on prescribed forms are invited from eligible candidates for Entrance test 2009 to the selection/admission in the following Ph.D courses for the session 2009 at SKIMS, Soura Srinagar with eligibility criteria as mentioned here in below against each course.
Discipline Seats:
1. Biochemistry: 01
2. Immunology&Molecular Medicine: 02
(Candidates can apply in one subject only)
Eligibility Criteria:
Biochemistry
• MBBS: MD (Biochemistry)
Or
• MBBS: Diplomat National Board of Examinations (Biochemistry)
Or
• Degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) With a minimum of 55% of the aggregate marks in the professional examinations.
Or
• M.Sc Biochemistry/Clinical Biochemistry/Medical Biochemistry/Medical Lab Technology (Biochemistry) or subjects allied i.e. (Biophysics/ Biotechnology).
Immunology & Molecular Medicine:
• MBBS; MD (Medicine/Pathology/Microbiology/Pediatrics).
Or
• MBBS; Diplomat of the National Board of Examinations. (DNB Immunology)
Or
• A degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with a minimum of 55% of the aggregate marks in the professional examinations.
Or
• M.Sc Immunology/Medical Lab. Technology (immunology)/ Molecular Biology/Biochemistry Biotechnology/Human Genetics.
The above qualifications must be from the recognized colleges/University approved by the MCWGC.
Duration: Minimum period of training for Ph.D shall be:
a) 02 Years for candidates who possess MD/MS/PG Diploma.
b) 03 years for candidates with M.Sc.
c) 04 years for candidates with MBBS degree.
Maximum period of compete the Ph.D shall be 05 years Registration of Candidates not qualifying the Ph.D program within prescribed period shall be cancelled.
Selection:-
3. Method of selection shall be by open competitive examination conducted BY SKIMS (Deemed University).
4. The selection shall be made from amongst the eligible candidates on the basis of marks obtained in the competitive examination consisting of written practical and viva-voce and strictly as per availability of seats in each course.
Entrance Examination:-
The Entrance Examination shall be conducted in two parts as under.
Part-1 Theory Examination: 100 Marks.
The written paper shall consist of 100 objective type questions.
A candidate must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in theory examination to qualify for the practical part of examination.
Part-II Practical & Viva-Voce Examination 50 Marks.
A candidate must obtain a minimum of 50% pass marks in practical in the subject he/she has appeared.
Selection of candidates in each course shall be done strictly on the basis of merit to be determined on the basis of obtained by the candidate/s in theory & practical examination and as per the seats available in each course.
How to apply.
The Application Forms along with detailed Prospectus can be had from the Academic Section of the SKIMS Soura against payment of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) to be deposited in Account Head CD-183 at J&K Bank SKIMS Soura Srinagar upto 30.11.2009 and shall be submitted in Academic Section with all requisite documents upto 10.12.2009
Verification of certificates:
All eligible candidates shall have to produce original certificates for checking purposes before the committee on 19.12.2009 at the University office SKIMS Soura Srinagar.
Date of Entrance Examination:
The Entrance test shall be held on 30.12.2009 at 2 pm in the Auditorium Hall of SKIMS, Soura Srinagar. Incomplete application forms are liable to be rejected. Any candidate found guilty of submitting fabricated documents or giving any kind of false information shall be debarred for appearing in the entrance test and shall be liable for action
under rules. No application shall be entertained after the last date of receipt of applications.
