Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna University is situated in Tehri District of Garhwal region of Uttaranchal on the bank of river Alaknanda in mid-Himalaya. Garhwal University, established in the year 1973 renamed as Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna University in the year 1989. The University, is a public university located at Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India. Named after Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, the University is residential cum affiliating in nature, with jurisdiction over Garhwal district of the region.
The University’s impressive and pollution free campus offers the following infrastructural facilities to the students: 22 hostel buildings with the capacity to accommodate 3000 students, a Cafeteria, recreation rooms with televisions, hostel library, music room, outdoor courts for basketball, badminton, volleyball and tennis, telephonic services, medical facilities, shopping centers, guest houses and a student welfare committee.
The territorial jurisdiction of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University extends over seven districts in the state. HNBGU has over 105 affiliated colleges under it, and the University has been accorded a rating of B++ by the National Accreditation & Assessment Committee.
