Joint Management Entrance Test - JMET

Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (2009) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by IISc Bangalore. IIT Bombay. IIT Delhi. IIT Kanpur. IIT Kharagpur. IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee.

The IISc and participating IITs will use the results of JMET 2009 to short list candidates for the subsequent part of the selection process(es). Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to different IITs and IISc as per their choices. Candidates are advised to refer to the details provided by each of the Institutes in this website. An applicant can apply to as many programmes as desired by him / her subject to fulfillment of eligibility requirements.

Application/Registration Process

There are two different processes by which a candidate can apply/register for JMET 2009. namely. "offline" and "online". Details of these processes are given under How-to-Apply. The registration-cum-application fee for offline applications is Rs.800/- for General candidates and Rs.400/- for SC/ST candidates. The fee for online application is Rs. 700/- for General candidates and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates. The registration fee is not refundable and the application form is not transferable.

Candidates can appear in the examination only against valid admit cards. Candidates generally receive Admit Cards by last week of November 2005. If they do not receive it by 1 December 2005. they should contact GATE Office IIT Bombay.

Although JMET 2009 is held at different centres all over India. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is the Organizing Institute. and has overall responsibility of conducting JMET 2009. In case of any claims or disputes arising in respect of JMET 2009 it is hereby made absolutely clear that the Courts and Tribunals in Mumbai and Mumbai alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle any such disputes or claims.

Information about the eligibility. programmes. test centers. test structure etc is available at the websites of IISc and IITs. JMET application forms may be submitted either online (internet based) or offline (by post/ in person). Online submission can be made directly accessing the institute website. Candidates are advised to apply online for obtaining error- free processing and faster response on application status. Online application processing fee is Rs. 750/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST category). The details of mode of payment are indicated on the website. For sending the application by post (Offline submission). JMET Brochure and Application Form can be obtained in person/ by post from the GATE Office of the zone in which the test center. selected by the candidates is located. The request. accompanied by two self-addressed slips and a Demand Draft for Rs.800/- for General candidates and Rs.400/- for SC/ST candidates drawn in favour of the institute concerned may be sent to the respective Chairman-GATE.

Eligibility :

Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent. or a Master's degree in a discipline from a recognised institute/ university are eligible to appear for the JMET examination. Students appearing for the final examinations of the above mentioned qualifying degrees can also apply. Criteria for admission to the individual Institutes are given below.

IISc Bangalore : B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in any branch of engineering with at least Second Class.

IIT Bombay : First class degree (min.60% aggregate/min. CPI of 6.5/10) in either Engineering (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or Postgraduate degree in Science.

IIT Delhi : 60% marks in aggregate or 6.75/10 CGPA in Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy / Agriculture Engg. or Master's degree in any branch of Physical / Chemical / Mathematical Sciences like Physics . Chemistry . Mathematics . Statistics . Computer Applications . Electronic Science . Environmental Science . Operations Research . Computational / Information Science . Agriculture . or Master's degree in Commerce / Economics.

IIT Kanpur : Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering or Technology with 60% marks or GPA of 6.0/10 in aggregate. Candidates with Architecture degree can apply provided they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 Level.

IIT Kharagpur : First Class Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology (OR) Master's degree in Science with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level (OR) First Class Master's Degree in Economics/Commerce with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level.

IIT Madras : B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent with First Class or equivalent or a Master's degree in any discipline with First Class or equivalent from a recognized Institution/University.

IIT Roorkee : Bachelor's degree in any discipline of Engineering/Technology or its equivalent or a Master's degree in any discipline. from a recognized Institute/University with atleast 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or CGPA of 6.75/10 (6.25/10 for SC/ST).
