(ii)   (a) Short History of Tabla.
       (b) Merits and demerits of Tabla Player.
(iii) Biographical sketches.
              (a) Ustad Ahmad Jaan Thirkva.
              (b) Pt. Anokhe Lal


                                                                                     PART-B
(i) Description and comparison of Teen Taal.
(ii) Recognition of prescribed Taals from the given Bols.
(iii) Two laggies in Kehrva and Dadra.


                                                                                PRACTICAL
(i) Systematic solo performance of the following Taals with Peshkar, Kayda, Palta, Tihai, Tukra, Rela and Pakar: Teen Taal, Jhap Taal, Rupak Taal.
(ii) Two laggies in Dadra and Kehrva Taal.
(iii) To play simple Theka of the EkTaal.
(iv) Ability to play Tabla with Lehra.

 

SEMESTER-II (THEORY)

PART-A


(i) Definition of the following:-
Kayada, Laggi, Mukhra, Mohra.
(ii) (a) Description of Tabla.
     (b) Ten Varnas of Tabla.
     (c) Principles of Tabla Accompaniment with vocalist and instrumentalist.
(iii) Biographical sketches.
       (a) Pt. Krishan Maharaj
       (b) Ustaad Alla Rakha.


                                                                                           PART-B
(i) Description and comparison of the following:
Tilwara, JhapTaal, SulTaal.
(ii) Notation of prescribed Taals alongwith Dugun and Chougun Laykaries.
(ii) Notation of the following terms in Teentaal, Jhaptaal, Rupaktaal: One Kayda, two Paltas, one Rela, one Tukra and one Tihai.


PRACTICAL
(i) To play simple Theka on the following:- Tilwara, SulTaal.
(ii) Ability to produce different bols of Taal recited by the examiner.
(iii) Padhant of Ikgun, Dugun and Chougun Laykaries of prescribed Taals and on tabla.

2. Knowledge of the Jatis of Raags.
3. Life sketches and contribution towards music of the following:-
       (i) Pt. V.N. Bhatkhande
       (ii) Ravi Shankar

(i) To write the notations of Drut Gats in prescribed Bhopali Raags.
(ii) Description of prescribed Raags.
(iii) Notation of Teen Taal and Dadra alongwith Ikgun, Dugun and Chougun Laykaries.

(a) Knowledge of Shudha and Vikrit Swaras.
(b) Capability to demonstrate the following Taals with Bols and Matras by hand in Ikgun (Brabar) and Dugun Laykeries-Teen Taal and Dadra.
(c) One fast Gat with four toras in Bhopali Raag.
Knowledge of the following:-
                (i) Strings used in your instruments
                (ii) Correct posture (Mudra)

SEMESTER-II (THEORY)

(i) Definitions of the following:-
Taan, Tora, Vadi, Samvadi, Anuvadi, Varjit, Varna, Gat (Maseet-Khani and Razakhani), Chikari, Meend and Jhala,
(ii) Knowledge of the following:-
       (a) Rules of Thaats and Raags and their comparison.
       (b) Purvang and Uttrang Raags.
(iii) Life sketch and contribution towards music by Ustad Vilayat Khan.

(i) To write the notations of Drut Gats in Kalyan and Alahya Bilawal Raag.
(ii) Notations of Jhap Taal, Keharva alongwith Ikgun, Dugun and Chougun Laykaries.
(iii) Recognition of prescribed Raags from the given Swarsangities.


                                                                                 PRACTICAL
(a) Capability to demonstrate the following Taals with Bols and Matras by hand in Ikgun (Brabar) and Dugun Laykeries- Jhap Taal, Keharva.
(b) One fast Gat with four toras in Kalyan and Alahya Bilawal.
(c) Capability to demonstrate two Matras(Dugun) and four Matras (Chougun) in one beat.
(d) To recognise Raags and Taals of your course.
(e) Non-detailed Raags in terms of definition Arohi, Avrohi and Pakar.
            (i) Khamaj (ii) Deshkaar

(f) Knowledge of the following:-
