Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry is situated at Solan in Himachal Pradesh, India. This University was inaugurated by the Late Rajiv Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, on 30 April 1988. This University has grown into its own kind not only in the country but in whole of Asia with new dimensions of education, research and extension in Horticulture and Forestry. It is playing an important role in increasing horticulture production in the state of Himachal Pradesh in particular and in the country in general.

It covers 5.5 kmĀ² and is situated in Nauni on the Solan-Rajgarh Road. The campus lies 15 km from the town of Solan. The University was established on December 1, 1985 and is named after the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Solan town known as Mushroom city of India is one of the District - headquarters of Himachal Pradesh situated on National Highway No. 22 on Kalka - Shimla Road about 40 Kms from Kalka and 310 Kms from New Delhi. This is also connected by narrow gauge train. Nauni is located at height of 1275 meters above mean sea level.

It has two colleges, namely, the College of Horticulture and the College of Forestry, which are sub-divided into 14 departments and are looked after by a faculty of over 200 scientists and teachers. It also has a school specialized in the study of apples, called Apple School, Nauni. The department of management is under coledge of horticulture providing degree in 3 basic corses MARKETING FINANCE AND HR with agribusiness.

It offers under-graduate, post-graduate and doctoral courses in horticulture, forestry and allied disciplines.
