Firefox 3.6's beta 1 is ready for dowload. The open source browser from Mozilla community is built on the Gecko 1.9.2 web rendering engine, and is said to offer many improvements for web developers, add-on developers and users. Mozilla released the alpha version of Firefox 3.6, code-named Namoroka, in August. The organization plans to release the final version by the end of the year, with Firefox 3.7 in the first half of 2010 and Firefox 4.0 in about a year. Here's looking into all that's new in Firefox 3.6.

1. New Personas

Users can now change their browser’s appearance with a single click, with built in support for Personas. The feature has been available as an add-on, so users will have plenty of Personas skins to choose from.

2. Plug-in alerts

Firefox 3.6 will alert users about out-of-date plugins to keep them safe. In September, Mozilla debuted plug-in checking with updates to Firefox 3.5.3 and Firefox 3.0.14, which automatically detect outdated versions of Adobe's Flash Player and prompt users to upgrade to the newest -- and theoretically the most secure -- edition.
