Mr. Viswanathan inaugurated the Krishnagiri Rural IAS Study Academy at Government Arts College for Men in Krishnagiri. He also launched the web page of the academy, www.krishnagiri.tn.nic.in, at the Collectorate.
"With such academies functional in the state, it would facilitate the growth of rural students as compared to their urban counterparts. It is the prerogative of the respective collectors to seek such centres in their district," said Mr. Viswanathan. One hundred sixty five candidates coming from different parts of the district and from neighboring Karnataka appeared for a written test, out of which only 35 were selected.
Later, in his speech at awareness programme on competitive examinations held at the college auditorium addressed to the students, he said that, "Hard work is the key to success. Study at least 12 hours a day and balance it by reading newspapers, magazines, watching news on TV in order to enhance your general knowledge."
"Rural students lack the basic information about TNPSC and other competitive examinations," added the chairperson.Speaking about the plethora of opportunities, that one can explore with Central and State governments through various recruitment boards, TNPSC take utmost care for the same.
"Maximum care is being taken while setting question papers and evaluating answer sheets by TNPSC. Answers sheets can be verified in case a person has a doubt about its credibility," said Mr. Viswanathan. Cautioning candidates against touts, he replied to various questions from students and lecturers.
