Osmania University is a public university situated in the city of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, India. Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in south India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. Throughout its existence of over eight decades. It is the first Indian University to have an Indian language as medium of instruction (Urdu).
It is one of the largest university systems in the subcontinent with over 300,000 students on its various campuses and affiliated colleges. It is particularly well known for its Engineering and Technology departments and Constituent, Affiliated Colleges and District Centres. Its faculty and staff number nearly 5000.
It is a multi-faculty and multidisciplinary university, offering rich and varied courses in the fields of Humanities, Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Technology, Commerce and Business Management, Information Technology and Oriental Languages.
