Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology is located at Burla, India. It is one of the oldest technical institutes in India, It is a constituent College of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela. The college was founded on the 12th August, 1956 under Utkal University. In January 1967, the management of the college of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela. It ha already produced more than 10,000 graduate engineers and 2000 Postgraduates in different fields of Engineering and Technology. The college is located at the foot of the world famous Hirakud Dam amidst beautiful surroundings of lakes and mountains. Burla is well connected to Bhubaneshwar and Kolkata with roads and railways. Sambalpur to Burla is 10 kms both by road and rail. Hirakud Railway station is only 2 km away from the college.
Since its inception, the college has made a significant progress. Initially, the college offered degree courses in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering disciplines. In 1972, degree courses in Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering was introduced. B.E. Courses in Information Technology was approved by AICTE and is being offered from the current academic session.
The campus covers and area of 200 acres (0.81 km2) amidst the hills and the river Mahanadi. The one way access route from NH-06 stretches up to the "Golden Jubilee" gate at the entrance of college.
