Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) is situated at Mohali in Chandigarh. IISER Mohali has been established in 2007 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to promote quality education and research in basic sciences.
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali will provide a platform for the faculty to engage in high quality pedagogy, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to perform cutting edge research in frontier areas of basic sciences. Its commitment is to provide quality science education to UG and PG students. IISER Mohali’s new fully residential 125 acre campus is coming up in the Knowledge City at Sector 81 Mohali. This is around 15 Km from the centre of Chandigarh city.

Admission:
Admission to the doctoral program is after a Master's degree in science. Besides the students of the Integrated Master’s program, Postgraduate students with a Master's degree in science from other Universities/Institutes will also be admitted to the doctoral program. Under special circumstances, exceptional candidates with B.Tech/B.E. degree will also be considered for admission. Applicants to the PhD program are required to have at least a high second class in MSc and should have quailed a national level test such as GATE/NET/JEST/ICMR/DBT(and any other national level examination that the IISER Senate decides to recognize from time to time) or should have completed M.Tech through GATE, and will be selected through an interview process. The admission to the PhD program will be conducted twice a year, for the semesters beginning in July and December respectively. This admission procedure will be muddied by the Senate from time to time, to suit the needs of the Institute.
