Fakir Mohan University is located at Vyasa Vihar, Balasore, Orissa, India. The University was established by the Govt. of Orissa under Section 32 of the Orissa University Act, 1989(Act 5 of 1989)and it was notified vide the Government’s Notification No. 973 dated 3rd July, 1999. The University is functioning from its present campus at Vyasa Vihar. New campus at Nuapadhi has already started functioning. All the P.G. Departments of the University are computer based.

The University has well organized Computer Lab., Biotechnology Lab. , Environmental Science Lab.and Applied Physics & Ballistics Lab. Besides its Lab in the Dept.,there are centralised computer centre, Central Library with adequate connectivity facilities. Welfare facilities like Bank, Canteen , Gym , Boys Hostel , Girls Hostel , Staff Quarters etc. are also there in the present campus.
